Snow leopard may be war casualty in Afghanistan war
Conservationists fear for the survival of Afghanistan's threatened
snow leopard if there is renewed fighting in the country.
The animal faces extinction with only 150 of the species left in the
mountainous regions of Afghanistan.
Years of war, expanding populations and hunting have led to their
diminishing numbers with fewer than 5,000 in 12 countries in central
Asia.
The US-based International Snow Leopard Trust is preparing a report
about its concerns for the survival of the Afghanistan snow leopard,
reports [55]The Daily Telegraph.
